Pepper Potts by Reza Kabir
Oh god now all I want is a Pepper Potts magical girl transformation sequence.
A student blows up at a teacher, drops the F-bomb. The usual approach at Lincoln – and, safe to say, at most high schools in this country – is automatic suspension. Instead, Sporleder sits the kid down and says quietly: “Wow. Are you OK? This doesn’t sound like you. What’s going on?”
He gets even more specific: “You really looked stressed. On a scale of 1-10, where are you with your anger?” The kid was ready. Ready, man! For an anger blast to his face….”How could you do that?” “What’s wrong with you?”…and for the big boot out of school. But he was NOT ready for kindness.
The armor-plated defenses melt like ice under a blowtorch and the words pour out: “My dad’s an alcoholic. He’s promised me things my whole life and never keeps those promises.” The waterfall of words that go deep into his home life, which is no piece of breeze, end with this sentence: “I shouldn’t have blown up at the teacher.” Whoa.

Bam. Kids “misbehave” for actual, real, valid reasons. And have feelings.

For fuck’s sake, it takes the people in charge so long to figure shit like this out! Good for Lincoln High!

This needs to be the policy EVERYWHERE…

Korean designers Je Sung Park and Woo Jung Kwon have developed an invisible umbrella that will keep you dry by repelling rain. Consisting of a simple plastic stick that creates an artificial wind at the top, the ‘umbrella’ deflects raindrops before they hit you by sucking in air at the bottom. The intensity of this wind-shield can be varied depending on weather condition and number of people sharing the device—the length of the stick is also adjustable.
MY DREAM FOR USING THE ELEMENTS MORE EFFICIENTLY IS COMING TRUE.
My god
Whoaaaa
Where’s the battery or fans go? This is bad industrial design.
“That’s why the guy my dad never shut up about? I’m wondering if they shouldn’t have kept him on ice.”
#I never really looked at Tony’s face after #he looks so… let down #Howard probably talked about Steve so much when Tony was growing up #on the rare ocassions tony and howard actually talked #and you know the problem with meeting an idol #they never turn out to be the person you thought they were [x]

Three mass graves with 1,000 corpses found in Iraq
Iraqi officials have found three mass graves containing the bodies of about 1,000 people thought to have been executed by US soldiers during their occupation of the country.
The graves were uncovered in Iraq’s western province of al-Anbar. The remains are believed to be from victims killed by US forces during 2004 and 2005 in the city of Fallujah, located roughly 69 kilometers (43 miles) west of Baghdad.
Horrible.
It’s stuff like this that makes me ashamed to be American… and to think the USA has done so much worse… :/
Is there any actual evidence this was the result of US actions and not just another of Saddam’s mass graves? I’m not prepared to jump to any a.
The article mentions that they’re going to do DNA tests on the bodies to see if there is any match to those who are missing.
“Going to do” being the operative phrase. As in there’s no evidence yet, just conjecture. But that’s not stopping people from just blaming the US.
I dunno, stuff like this just pisses me off because I feel like people let their emotions have liberty over truth. I know it’s impossible to detach completely from things but I’d rather not give conservative people more ammunition for their belief that liberals are the “blame America first” types.
